The group is now successfully up and running with our third meeting took place on 4 March
I will be discussing with founding group members how we should proceed as, of course, some classical music, especially symphonies, can be rather lengthy. My question would be should mere extracts be taken from a complete work or can we listen to the whole piece
We will hopefully find the experience constructive and entertaining and certainly not serious but lighthearted. Of course, any input from the group will be most welcome
At our meeting on 6 May, we enjoyed the following:
Gustav Holst (1874 - 1934)
The Planets
Jupiter - The Bringer of Jollity
Saturn - The Bringer of Old Age
Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872 - 1958)
Fantasia on Greensleeves
Frederick Delius (1862 - 1934)
On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring
Leopold Mozart (1719 - 1787)
Kindersinfonie (Toy Symphony)
Paul Lincke (1866 - 1946)
Berliner Luft
Darius Milhaud (1892 - 1974)
Le Boeuf sur le toit (The bull on the roof)
