I had 13 persons join me on a walk round Eastbrookend Country Park and Dagenham Chase. In the car park where we met there was also another group meeting, more of which later.
The Country Park has a visitor centre and there is a very nice tea room..
It was quite a cold day and I was not expecting to see a great deal, particularly after the previous weeks cold weather and the impending storm, however the morning turned out to be mainly dry with a couple of spits of rain felt as we walked.

From the visitor centre we walked clockwise via the gap between the Curzon lake and The Slack, this area was very muddy and did not improve until we got to the Bardag lake. There were a number of parakeets flying overhead most of the time we were there, one of the highlights of the day was seeing a male Red Crested Pochard on the Bardag lake.
| Birds seen | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood pigeon | Carrion Crow | Ring-necked Parakeet | Starling | Magpie |
| Great Tit | Canada Goose | Blackbird | Blue Tit | Mute Swan |
| Teal | Mallard | Shoveler | Coot | Moorhen |
| Black Headed Gull | Wigeon | Lesser Black Backed Gull | Grey Heron | Gadwall |
| Tufted Duck | Cormorant | Red Crested Pochard | Long Tailed Tit | Robin |
| Wren |
We walked round the Tom Thumb lake and then walked beside Wheelers lake before returning to the visitor centre. On arrival at the visitor centre we were anticipating a nice warming cup before leaving, however the other group, we saw in the car park, had just arrived back before us and so there was a big queue in the tea room, and I, like many others, chose to have the cuppa at home.
